Jose Perez brings more than 20 years of experience working in Arizona’s public behavioral health sector working with AZ AHCCCS/Medicaid. He began his career in billing and direct client service and moved into information technology, billing management, organizational leadership and corporate compliance. Jose currently serves as a Billing Director at STAR – Stand Together and Recover Centers and is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Jose has extensive experience with CMS-1500 and UB-04 billing and has worked with Mercy Care, AHCCCS, AIHP, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Molina Healthcare, Arizona Complete Health, United Healthcare, and self-pay systems.

Jose maintains an insurance acceptance rate exceeding 97% through strong billing practices, compliance oversight, and revenue cycle management. In addition to his behavioral health expertise, Jose has a background in information technology, including CompTIA A+ certification and Cisco networking training. This allows him bridge the gap between clinical operations, billing systems, EHR workflows, and technical infrastructure.
